How Tali Got Her Name...

Talitha was a VERY big surprise to her parents. But when we finally came out of denial, we were certain that she was going to be a boy. (Only because we already had 4 girls and one lonely boy--poor Trevor). And so, we had 2-3 boys names ready to go. Then, one day in April 2008 we had an ultra sound and to our surprise (again) we found out our "he" was a "she." We had to start all over again with names. We went a long time without being able to agree on a girl's name. We went back and forth and got nowhere. Then, one night William got up from praying and said, "I know her name. I know what it's going to be." I said, "enlighten me," and he said "Talitha." I was a little surprised (again) and asked him where he got that and he said he didn't know but thought it was in the Bible. I had the same feeling. So, the next morning William looked it up and sure enough in Mark chapter 5 it's the story of Jairus' daughter whom Christ raises from the dead, and in so doing says, "Talitha Cumi" (or being interpreted means damsel, or little girl, arise). Well, there was no changing his mind after that. He knew that was her name and it was starting to grow on me too. A few nights later as I was falling asleep I thought of "Mia" because in Spanish it means "my" or "mine". So, our Tali's name means literally, "MY LITTLE GIRL." And she is, and always will be.
